GYZ型刮渣机是运用平流沉淀的一机两用的设备，将沉淀于池底的泥渣刮集到池子进水端沉渣坑内，以便用抓斗（可另见相关资料）或其它清渣设施（例如阀、泵、螺旋体等）与水体分离，同时将水面浮油等漂浮物刮集到池子的出水端，以供其它的除油设施（如集油管、集油槽、撇油带）进行除油或撇渣。
